Despite the challenges, Ashley has tackled each day with a smile, supported by the unconditional love of her parents. We will explore her journey at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware, where she found the personalized care she needed to improve her hearing quality.

Before coming to Nemours, Ashley lived with her condition admirably. Now, at 10 years old, she shares, “It’s something I’ve lived with, and my parents have helped me a lot.” However, Ashley’s parents sought medical help at Nemours Children’s knowing they could do more for her.

Regarding her treatment, Ashley shares, “They treated me very well and were always attentive to me.” The medical team at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware made every effort to provide the most personalized care possible. From the first surgery on her right ear, to draining the little tube, to removing the blood, every step was guided by the team’s care and dedication.

During her recovery process, Ashley shares her feelings: “I feel good, just anxious for my last operation [a hearing operation], to be much better.” Her positivity and enthusiasm have infected her family and loved ones, who share the excitement of accompanying her on her journey towards improved hearing.

With big plans for the future, Ashley reveals, “I look forward to the operation and finally having my device to hear better.” Her family supports her at every step of her journey towards improved hearing, and her determination inspires the medical team to strive even more to provide her with the care she deserves. The surgical device she is getting in her following surgery is a more integrated and permanent way to help enhance her hearing, making a significant step forward in her quest for auditory improvement.

For those going through similar situations, Ashley shares some wise advice: “Keep up with the treatments and let the doctors take care of you; they are very good.” Her experience highlights the importance of trusting the medical process and allowing experts to guide the way to recovery. Ashley and her family express their gratitude for the exceptional care provided by Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware, particularly under the expertise of Pediatric Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Jones, and pediatric otolaryngologists, Dr. Briddell and Dr. Parkes, whose dedication has been instrumental in Ashley’s journey.
