Associate Highlight- Jonathan Haro’s Stem Cell Donation

Jonathan decided to become a nurse after his grandfather was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He was inspired by the many great nurses that cared for his grandfather at home and inpatient. Around the time he was graduating high school he was thinking about careers to pursue. Jonathan says, “I knew I liked working with people, and most of all I liked helping. Associate Highlight: Shawn and Tammy

Shawn and Tammy Rolquin are a remarkable couple who share a dedication to making a difference in the lives of children and families. Tammy, a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse, and Shawn, the Manager of the Critical Care Transport Team and Transfer Center, both work for Nemours Children’s Hospital, Florida. While they may have distinct roles within Nemours, the pair occasionally find their paths crossing. The surgical department where Tammy works overlooks the helicopter pad and ambulance bay, offering her an exciting viewing point. “When the timing is perfectly aligned for the both of us,” Tammy says, “I can watch Shawn take off or land in the helicopter. We get to exchange a quick wave and a smile. A Calling for Care: Timothy’s Associate Highlight

Critical Care Flight Nurse Timothy McCormick grew up in a family of medical professionals. In fact, his mother is a critical care nurse. His parents instilled in him the values of faith, community, education, and helping others. “I decided early on in my education to pursue a career in nursing and gravitated to critical care medicine,” says Timothy. “Its challenging environment and unique clinical cases provide the immense reward of aiding in the recovery of critically ill patients. I consider my profession as a registered nurse a calling.” Timothy began his nursing career in the Adult Critical Care setting. During this time, he worked both inpatient and in interfacility EMS as a Critical Care Transport RN. He cared for critically ill adults, obstetric patients, and pediatrics for the first 11 years of his career.
